In one of the most famous battles of the Bible, the prophets of Baal found themselves and their gods up against the prophet Elijah and his God. Although the prophets of Baal raved all day, their gods were silent because they were not real. But when Elijah called on his God, He flashed fire from heaven and demonstrated His presence in a powerful way. Elijah challenged the people to take a stand - to follow the true God. Yet many wavered between the two choices because the idol gods deceitfully offered more power, status, appearance, and possessions. This battle teaches us that it is important to take a stand for God. Otherwise we find ourselves worshipping false Gods.
