Aldersgate UMC

Aldersgate began in the gym of AllSaints Episcopal School on August 1st, 1985. Founder Kerry Hurst began the ministry by simply going door to door asking local Lubbockites to join him in this new venture. Kerry was the pastor for three years before former pastor Mike Schafer took over as the lead teacher. The congregation continued meeting in the AllSaints Gym until 1989 when construction began on the first building, right across the street in what was then a simple cotton field. For the next twenty years Mike would continue to preach at Aldersgate, and during that time the building was expanded a total of three times. In June of 2008 Mike left and current pastor Jimmy Nunn began preaching. Jimmy has continued the Aldersgate tradition of intensely following Jesus Christ and leading his members to do the same.
